A Day in the Life of a King...

Ok this is a quick post about my morning.

Does anybody here watch Seinfeld? Ok remember when Kramer and the car salesman tried to see how far they could go before the car ran out of gas? Well that's basically how I live my life everyday. I only get gas when it's absolutely necessary. I figure that I'm saving money and it's quite exciting to see how long I can go with the gas light on. Odd? Yes I know but I never claimed to be normal. Well anyway this morning my nonsense caught up to me. Yep that's right. On my way to work my car just stops! Stops as I'm honking my horn at some loser who was driving at 2 miles per hour no less! Luckily I was close to a gas station. I walked to the gas station and Akbar or Osama or whatever his name was sells me a gas can for $6.95! Highway robbery! Not to mention the can only holds 1 gallon of gas. So I had to walk back and forth to the station 3 times before my baby would even start! Now I'm here at work and although I look extremely sexy I smell like 97 octane! I wrote a post yesterday and I just wasn't feeling it so this is all you guys are getting today and since most of you jerks are off Monday then I guess this is it until Tuesday! Now I'll see you in the comment section where no one is allowed to laugh at me for my misadventures. You're welcome.

Yeah right no one can laugh at you! LOL! I guess you learned a lesson about saving money...paying $21 for 3 gals of gas!

i wouldn't laugh. i used to do that crazy mess when i was in college.. i ran out about 2 something in the morning coming back from the club.. i was so drunk at the time, i though it was funny. but luckily my home-girl (who's usually knocked out by 10) was up about to leave for a road trip to chicago. she had a gas can and brought me some gas. i was luckier than you though, it only took 1 can full to send me on my way

ROFLMBAO!!!

While reading this I pictured my broke ass, lazy ass cousin, and his broke ass, lazy father and stepmother. They all live with my granny and they used to share one vehicle...my granny's Buick. NONE of them would EVER put in gas so one day my cousin hopped in the car to go "scope out some ladies" (lame ass) and it ran out of gas at the stop sign down the street from granny's house. Granny lives on the corner. HA!

Those gas prices are ridiculous though....I guess I'll stop complaining about $2.51/gal for premium in GA.

Happy Friday, D!

I am so cheap. Remember when gas skyrocketed right after Katrina? Never affected me. I swear I waited so long that the prices had started to fall. I'll just have to do better calculating how many times I can get to work after the light comes on!

Drama Kween said...

LOL @ COOL for calculating

Fortunately, the running out of gas thing never happened to me, but i did have to help HIM once when his dumb tail ran out of gas on hilton pkwy (for those familiar bmore you know how bad that is)...

Drea Inspired said...

I wasn't affected by the gas prices after Katrina either cuz I flat out refused to drive! Thank God for the city and campus buses back then!

D, I really can't blame you, but at least I can get a good laugh! LOL!

It took 3 gallons to restart? What are you driving, an eighteen wheeler? Instead of paying for the gas can, you should have found an empty Mountain Dew can, or just cupped your hands.

I used to cut it close all the time, so I kept a full gallon can in the back (it was a Civic and only held 10 gallons anyway). That was in Texas, and I always thought the heat was about to make it explode (the little plastic container did expand like a balloon in the afternoons). Once I ran out but had just enough momentum to coast into a gas station. Now I fill up when it drops below half way.

MZPEACH said...

what I have learned is..when you fill it up all the way (pass the full line) you save more money because it takes a longer time to use the gas if you fill it up halfway it takes a shorter time for the gas to run out and your constantly putting gas in it.

TTD said...

i agree gp.. someone needs to tell my husband that. he never fills up! and is constantly at the gas station.. lol

African girl, American world said...

men! My husband used to drive me crazy when he had a lincoln and it was say how many miles to empty. he loved looking at it when it was going down and driving just to see how far he could go!

Y'all are beyond me.

So do you put like $5 of gas in your car like every other day too?

African girl, American world said...

And I'm with jackie, half a tank and I'm refilling past full!

I got babies to worry about in the car with me!

Ddot the King said...

Nah that would defeat the purpose. I just try to drive out all the gas then I fill it all the way back up. Makes perfect sense to me. :)

Ddot the King said...

Well the King ain't got no kids!!! Although I do think it's time to make an heir to the throne. Anybody wanna have my babies?!! Kidding! I'm just kidding!!

Rell said...

LOL King I do that all the time man. I'm strategic with gas, yea strategic [not cheap].

Good stuff, though I've only watched three-episoes of Seinfeld (of course the Soup Nazi one).

Ddot the King said...

Shame on you Rell! You need to go buy all the DVDs immediately! Seinfeld is hilarious!

TTD said...

not funnier than will & grace!

TTD said...

will & grace is hilarious! and so is that 70's show.. seinfield is OK

Ddot the King said...

Will & Grace?! The gay show? Please. Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom ever.

Drama Kween said...

seinfield is cool, will & grace alright, king of queens love it, simpsons and family guy can't get enough of it, girlfriends is my jumpoff, but nothing and i mean nothing tops martin, i don't care how many times you've seen an episode he will having you cracking up...

MZPEACH said...

Not funnier than WIll & Grace..sorry. Seinfield is damn funny though.

Ddot the King said...

The early Martin shows are funny but after Gina disappeared the show sucked which takes that out of the top ten. The Simpsons are classic. It's like every episode is funny. Family Guy is hilarious too. Cartoons gotta go in a different category though. South park is in that group too.

But nothing and I mean nothing tops Seinfeld!

African girl, American world said...

wow a brother defending seinfeld! who knew?

I used to watch and have prolly seen them all. I agree that King of Queens is funny.

Martin bumped out the top 10? R u a brother for real?

Ddot the King said...

To me Girlfriends is just something you watch because black people are on it and you want them to keep their jobs. It has never made me laugh out loud.

African girl, American world said...

first season as in most 1st seasons was bad (remember Fresh Prince?)

even now you don't think its funny?

Drama Kween said...

it's called girlfriends and focuses on 4 women for a reason King, you won't LOL at it...but yeah we can put cartoon sitcoms in another category...and seinfeld can so be topped because of the level of humor it has...i know the bernie mac show had me cracking up last night...

Ddot the King said...

Martin is hilarious. Don't get me wrong but after Gina left the show it just wasn't funny.

Drama Kween said...

When Gina left it became the Let's see how much Pam can be like Martin Show

Drama Kween said...

Going back to (adult) cartoons, anybody watches Aqua Teens and/or Futurama?

TTD said...

will & grace live is the funniest.. last night had me in tears.

girlfriends is OK.. i laugh sometimes, and turn it off others. its not consistent.. so it's not that great.

but yes.. king of queens is very comical.

has anyone seen the new sitcom, 4 kings? thats pretty funny too.

African girl, American world said...

ok y'all are nuts so lets do it

10 top shows of all time to date!!

TTD said...

i used to watch futurama.. does that still come on?

Drama Kween said...

Futurama comes on the cartoon network at like 11 or something...

Drama Kween said...

going to go get lunch...Big Sis MWABI Almighteee did you want anything...lol...brb y'all

Ddot the King said...

Well when it comes to adult cartoon Drawn Together is hilarious. It comes on comedy central as well.

TTD said...

damn goddess.. where r u from?

i need to start watch comedy central more often..

Ddot the King said...

Personally I think black folks watch just about anything that comes on with black people in it. We should demand better writing in our sitcoms.

I'm working on my top 10.

Goddess I got really close to stopping for gas last night but I thought I could push it one more day. I was wrong. LOL

Rell said...

lol i'm into anything that's cynical and takes a different approach to comedy, not really a sitcom type person. The only true sitcom that I watch is "Everybody Hates Chris." Great Television and the only time I ever turn to UPN.

Other then that I watch South Park, 24, Prison Break, Lost, PTI, NFL Live, Sportscenter, Family Guy, American Dad, Decisive Battles (history channel) and The Boondocks.

TTD said...

rell, im a csi fan. i watch them all: csi, ncis, csi:miami, csi:ny.. also a big fan of law & order:svu. i like the cop shows. but e-ring is pretty good too. it's so action-packed, it's like a mini-movie

Ddot the King said...

Yeah I like the cop shows too. I get far tooexcited when they announce a Law and Order marathon. I even watch the ones that I've seen like 3 times. SVU is definitely me favorite.

MZPEACH said...

No you aren't Goddess. I noticed that too.

Ddot the King said...

Oh and Rell I think you and I are the only ones that know what PTI is but I watch that faithfully. I catch around the horn if I get home in time.

Drama Kween said...

ok i'm back...i also like everyone hate's chris..

since we are on the general topic of shows...i'm a mtv fan, so laguna beach, real world, making of the band, run's house etc fan..though i haven't seen any of it in weeks...

Drea Inspired said...

"Personally I think black folks watch just about anything that comes on with black people in it. We should demand better writing in our sitcoms."

As much as I hate to say it, it's true! But I love Girlfriends...not as much as I love Living Single though...Living Single perhaps my all time favorite sit com--Erica Alexander made the show in my opinion!

I love cop shows too....I remember back when I was kid and my granny and her brother would watch "In the Heat of the Night" religiously!!

Drea Inspired said...

Matlock, Murder She Wrote...all the old school ones.

Also, I'm hooked on the Twilight Zone. I always look forward to the New Year's and 4th of July marathons...

Aight, I'm going to drink my lunch now!

Ddot the King said...

Yeah my grandmother got me hooked on In Heat of the Night and Matlock!

Drama Kween said...

in retrospect i must say the ny undercover was the worst cop show...though i loved it back then but i was naive then, i didn't know any better...

Ddot the King said...

I'm with you on that Kween. I used to love that show but when I try to watch the reruns I can't make it more than 5 minutes.

Drama Kween said...

yeah that's one show they could've opt not to re-run...

TTD said...

yes the svu marathons are the best!

Leesa said...

ddot: I once coasted into a gas station because I wanted to see if I could make it from one city to another on one tank of gas.

The answer was "almost."

But you do know that going to empty is bad for your car, right? As a car ages, stuff sort of settles at the bottom of the gas tank. If you constantly wait until it gets that low, this stuff (technically known as crud) makes its way to the engine. Not nice on the engine.

I can't remember where I read that - maybe an adult cartoon!

Ddot the King said...

Yeah Leesa I know it's not good for the car but I just can't resist. Bottom line is I'm a cheapskate. :)

African girl, American world said...

More madness! NY Undercover!!

Y'all are tripping, for its time frame it was a good show! Lil G and all that. Ooooh I love the baby mama, whatever happened to her?

Ddot the King said...

Yeah for it's time period it was good but it's totally unwatchable now!

Lāā said...

Ooooh, I'm way late for this one, but I have been told from someone who does vehicle testing at Ford. That if you fill your tank all the way up it makes your car weigh more, thus making you use more gas initially. I don't think of it in that way just that I don't have to fill up as often.

Seinfeld is funny, I like Girlfriends and Martin was funnier when Gina was on it.

nikki said...

the situation is funny mos def, but i hope you don't let this shit happen again. think about how much danger you could have been in! some woman could have abducted you and had her way with you!

wait...

NOW i understand why you take such a risk...
