The Devil You Know...

My mom always said "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know." In the case of William Bennett and his comments last week he falls into the "devil we know" category.

When I first heard about what Bennett said I was outraged. I'm still peeved but I've had time to think about it a little more and I think it's better to know what a racist like Bennett is thinking as opposed to a lot of people in Washington pretending to not be racists while secretly thinking the same thing Bennett thinks. Trust me he speaks for a lot of people! But he took his hood off and for that he gets a little bit of respect from me.

On Friday I wanted to hunt this guy down and make him explain what he meant. Fully expecting that, I THE KING, could make him back pedal a little but later that day I heard how he defended what he said and felt that he was owed an apology and that's when it hit me. The better part of wisdom is to know when to stop asking questions. Wisdom is not only a fullness of knowledge but a paucity of foolishness. Lines must be drawn if one is to respect one's own self. You can't engage everyone or consider the validity of everything. No reliable decisiveness comes from endless curiousity, no strength can be maintained without decisivenss. A little bit of everything adds up to a whole lot of nothing.

So I let it ride. I already know what this guy meant. We all do. There's no use going back and forth with it because it's not going to change anything. I actually could deal with this clown more than someone like YOUR President because at least he can openly admit the he doesn't care about black people.

As I brought out in a previous post New Orleans has one of the the lowest High School graduation rates in the country, if not the lowest. Did you know that William Bennett used to be the Secretary of Education? So when all those black people were dying in New Orleans do you really think that George Bush and William Bennett had different thoughts on those people? No.
"We'll get to those uneducated, poor, drug abusers when we can." Oh yeah Bennett used to be the Drug Czar as well.

Bill Bennett is a racist piece of crap. We know it now and we're better off knowing it. Heck G.I. Joe said knowing is half the battle. So thank you Mr. Bennett for letting us peep your hole card. Ok now let's move on. Don't waste your valuable time being mad at this idiot. You and I have a lot more important things to do with our time.

ddot - I did not hear what he said either. I just googled it, and here is what I got:

Bennett was disputing a hypothesis put forth in a recent book that one reason crime is down is that abortion is up.

Bennett went on to say "it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."

Source: enitnews.com (Oklahoma City) - never heard of the news source before.

Here is what you may have missed, ddot. Bill Bennett is editor of "The Book of Virtues." What a two-faced racist. At least his other face is exposed.

ddot, that wild man samurai Tesshu said: "If the mind stops, the opponent appears; if the mind remains fluid, no enemy exists."

Stopped mind = stuck.
Fluid mind = effective action.

Blessings on your Monday, good man!

Leesa I think the fact that he doesn't feel he said anything wrong makes what he said even worse...

Well, I agree with the title of this piece. It is better that the hate filled people in America alert you periodically of their hatred, however irrational. At least we all know where folks like this stand. Nothing was "taken out of context"....he should just fess up and admit that the ugliness which pervades his character bubbled to the surface. In America, it is only a matter of time before you get caught.

Well said Chris and welcome to MY KINGDOM...

ddot: forgot to thank you for this catch. I would have never heard about it otherwise. Guess that's why you are the king!

Agreed.

I have more respect for those you are honest about what they're thinking and feeling.

He's an idiot. It's been said. We're moving on.

When you give people a chance to talk, they'll reveal their true selves sooner or later. I wonder how many times he's wished he could take this statement back.
Hopefully this statement will be his last call.

It's true. It is better to know your enemies than the ones who pretend to be your friend. I read about Bennett's comments. What a fricking prick!
