My Take on Looting...
Your boy George 'Dubya' Bush was on Good Morning America this morning. He had some interesting things to say. He basically said that even though perhaps 75 to 80% of the people in New Orleans have lost everything that there is no good reason for looting!
"I think there ought to be zero tolerance of people breaking the law during an emergency such as this, whether it be looting, or price-gouging at the gasoline pump or taking advantage of charitable giving, or insurance fraud."
Somehow I think he's going to let the price-gougin slide.
One of the hardest hit cities by Hurricane Katrina was New Orleans. Yep the Big Easy where the population just so happens to be 67.3% AFRICAN AMERICAN. I've watched the news for the past couple of days and saw as policemen pulled guns on people "stealing" food and clothing. What is that all about?! Those store owners are never going to make money off of those water damaged products and these people are hungry and have lost everything! They are standing on the roofs of their houses for goodness sakes!
Dubya however drew no line between those looting stores for survival supplies like food and water and those stealing television sets that are of no use with electricity out in New Orleans.
Now, I don't condone the stealing of televisions and the like, with that being said if a plasma screen floated by me I might grab it too! But it does seems to me that if my house is underwater and no one seems to be doing anything to help well then I'm going for self! From most published reports no one is telling these people anything! It might be because they have no idea what to do but should a mother not feed her kids the food that's sitting in a store filled with water because it's consider "stealing"?! C'mon Dubya! You can't be serious!!! Maybe it's just me or maybe not...

You're right. There's a huge difference between stealing televisions and grabbing whatever food you can find to survive.
The president is an asshole.
Ahhh..Becki I think you summed it all up in that last sentence... :)
At Dubya's age you would think that he may have invested in some type of postconventional way of rationalizing situations. Trust me, Dubya is making all these comments in his comfy little office and the security of having a place to rest his head. His belongings and life as he knows it, isn't floating around New Orlean's. It's a shame.
Vet well put GP!
Ddot, I must ask. If N.O. is made up of some many blacks, why hasn't any of our leaders made a stand. Such as, Master P, Puff Daddy, people that got money. I've donated. I just feel like the black community has not stepped up like we should be. However, if you have seen some form of black leadership take action let me know.
Well GP first let's not confuse Master P and P. Diddy with real leaders in the community. Yeah they need to donate money but leaders they are not. But if those are the types of people you're looking for I've heard that a benefit concert is being put together. I'm sure as soon as enough cameras are around Al Sharpton will show up...as long as he has a plastic bag so his hair doesn't get wet.
I disagree with you Ddot. Master P and Puffy Daddy (P.Diddy) possess referent power. The power to lead others by admiration, and appeal. Do you not agree that P.Diddy's Vote or Die movement encourage new and young voters? These two have drive and charisma. Of course, I know Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson are prominent black leaders and I also realized that you did as well. So I felt there was not even a need to mention there names. Even so, all of them need to step up to the plate.
In addition, rather you want to admit it or not. Entertainer (as sad as it seems) are the leaders of today. How many children do you know that know about Collin Powell and Barack Obama.
Wow a dissenting opinion! I love it! You are right GP Diddy and a few others can motivate people to take action. But we need someone other than really rich black men who pretend to be really poor black men in their songs to be our leaders! Are we saying that Diddy is our generations' Malcolm X?! Master P is the new MLK? I guess that makes Eminem JFK. Look of course entertainers can make certain things happen but we need more than that. We need strong men and women of any race to stand up and speak for those people who have no voice. Master P is from N.O. for all we know he's trapped on his roof or stuck in the astrodome along with Birdman and the rest of Cash Money!
GP maybe that's the problem! They should know who Barack Obama is. he should be just a s recognizable as Papa Diddy Pop or whatever his name is this week.
Your so crazy..lol! I'm cracking up!
I totally agree with evrything you've just said. Maybe Obama should come out with a rap song?
Now that's an idea. He could put on a bullet proof vest to give himself a little street cred and a star is born!!! :)
OMG..You must have a large family. You are too hilarious!
No I just spend far too much time alone with my own thoughts. I need to get out!!!
Tune in tomorrow for more hijinx people....
